A graded card in a sealed holder certifies two things: that it is genuine, and what condition one grader judged it to be on one day. It does not certify value, and the gap between those ideas is where money is lost.
Our verdict
Grade a card only when the grade could plausibly reach 9 or 10, because below that the fee usually exceeds the uplift. The slab certifies authenticity and one grader's condition opinion, and nothing about what anyone will pay.
